Meet Stasher's Sustainable Schools

This fall, we launched our Sustainable School Giveaway to help schools reduce their single-use lunch waste. We asked you to nominate a school that needs a Stasher for every teacher and student, and set out to pick 5 lucky recipients.

But the applications were so great, we ended up choosing 8 schools! Meet the winners who are well on their way to a litter-free lunch, helping us create a life with less plastic.

Stasher for Schools

A real difference, every day.

Research shows us that lunch is a pretty serious eco-offender. The average consumer uses between 200 and 1,000 baggies per year, and to-go containers are some of the biggest contributors to plastic waste.

The good news is that together, we can make a big impact just by changing how we pack our food. Imagine if every person in your school swapped out single-use plastics at lunch for a more sustainable option every day, all school year long.

Drrrrrumroll please! The Sustainable School Giveaway recipients are…..

Balboa High School - San Francisco, CA

They’re taking the lead in their community through climate change and sustainability education. Plus, they have a great recycling and composting program!

Onahan Elementary School - Chicago, IL

We’re cheering for the Environmental Club’s butterfly garden, filled with fresh veggies, flowers, and school lunch compost.

Grandville High School - Grandville, MI

We’re so inspired by this school hard-hit by the pandemic with a commitment to reusing to save money and the planet.

Oakstone Community School - Columbus, OH

They see a great big opportunity to eliminate plastics in their classrooms, school and art supplies, and packed lunches.

Adaire Elementary - Philadelphia, PA

The students are challenging the Philadelphia school district to reduce waste in cafeterias around the city through their group Little Change Makers.

Ainsworth Elementary School - Portland, OR

They share our love of the ocean, which is what inspires the school to embrace reusables. “Estamos protegiendo los peces!”

Ruder Elementary School - Columbia Falls, MT

With Glacier National Park as their backdrop, they recognize the importance of modeling responsible, sustainable behavior.

Nature Preschool of Baltimore -  Hunt Valley, MD

We want to join this preschool for reusable packed lunches and art projects using elements found in nature.

Kick start your litter-free lunch!
