Stasher 2021 Year in Review

2021 Year in Review

As the year comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to look back on 2021 and all of the amazing things you stored, cooked, froze, organized, stashed, reheated, served, and packed this year with Stasher.
The problem you’re helping to solve as part of the Stasher Squad is a big one, and this year, you made strides.

You Saved What Matters

By some estimations, nearly one trillion single-use plastic bags are used – and then promptly discarded – every year around the world. The first single-use plastic bag was invented in the 1960s, and a little over a decade later, grocery stores in the U.S. adopted single-use plastic grocery bags as the norm. That means it’s been 40 years of plastic bags passing through consumers’ hands! And when you multiply the average number of bags used each year by the number of years that plastic bags have been around, the number is pretty bleak.

But thanks to you, the Stasher Squad, we’ve successfully avoided buying and using 1.1 billion plastic bags in 2021 alone – that means more than 1 billion plastic bags that aren’t sitting in landfills, polluting parks and beaches, or floating in oceans. In other words, every time you’ve used your Stasher bag this year, you’ve made a small but significant choice to honor and protect the planet, which is definitely worth celebrating. And by using Stasher bags, which are completely free of BPA, BPS, lead, latex, and phthalates, you’ve prioritized your own health and wellness, too.

So to end this year on a high note, here’s a little glimpse into how you used Stasher bags in 2021 (you know, while you were busy saving the planet and all that).

The Stasher Squad Awards Go To...

Stasher Squad Favorites for 2021

In 2021, the most popular Stasher bag color was Rainbow Blue. And though there’s a Stasher bag size for everything you’re saving, you were all about the Stand Up Mega and kept it fresh and clean with our most popular blog post on the dos and don’ts of cleaning your Stasher bags.

On TikTok, you went crazy for the Stasher take on Emily Mariko's salmon hack.

And you were loving the Stasher no-waste microwave popcorn hack on Instagram. Salmon with a side of popcorn: the meal of champions!

Your most creative name for your Stasher bag was Stashleigh, which we think might just be the top baby name of 2022.

Your Purchases Made a Difference

And thanks to purchases from the Stasher Squad, we were able to donate 1% of all 2021 sales to thoughtfully chosen nonprofit causes dedicated to protecting and restoring the planet. In other words, your purchases helped save fish in the sea, protect miles of coral reefs, clean up beaches, and feed hungry kids!

We’re grateful that you’re part of this community, and we’re so excited to see everything that you do and make with reusable silicone Stasher bags in 2022. So if you’re ready to start the new year on the right foot – like finally getting organized, committing to meal-planning, packing healthy lunches, and reducing your plastic use – then snag a few Stasher bags for 2022, and get to work. You’ve got this! 🙌

Here’s to you, Stasher Squad!
