stasher swims with Shark Tank
Bay Area company makes its case for plastic-free bags on ABC’s hit reality show January 7 at 10/9c.
EMERYVILLE, CALIF. (December 22, 2017)— stasher, the innovative East Bay company that wants to replace plastic bags with healthier, stronger and more versatile silicone products, has announced its appearance on Shark Tank, the Emmy® Award-winning reality show that lets entrepreneurs make their case to an all-star panel of investors.
Made from 100% pure platinum European food grade silicone, the patented stasher bag offers an endlessly reusable alternative to plastic bags, and unique properties that allow it to be used in cooking, kept in freezers, and run through dishwashers. Stasher products are already available online and in retail stores including Target and Sur La Table, but founder Kat Nouri is seeking a Shark Tank-sized investment to build capacity for the growing demand.
Nouri isn’t a first time entrepreneur, having successfully built modern-twist, a company specializing in silicone home lifestyle products. But she believes stasher could be a game changer, disrupting the entire storage category and leading the movement for a plastic-free planet. Made entirely from sand (silica) and oxygen, silicone contains no petroleum byproducts, giving stasher bags the purity of glass, functionality of plastic, and reusable qualities that keep it out of global landfills.
But will the notoriously tough sharks of Shark Tank agree? Enough to sink their own teeth in stasher? The self-made tycoons of the critically-acclaimed show include Mark Cuban, chairman of AXS TV and outspoken owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks; real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran; "Queen of QVC" Lori Greiner; technology innovator Robert Herjavec and guest Shark Rohan Oza, the iconic Smartwater and Vitaminwater brand-builder.
Nouri can’t give away the ending, but says the Shark Tank experience is already paying dividends. “It’s an incredible platform to raise awareness on the harmful effects of petroleum-based plastics.” says Nouri. “It goes beyond money and speaks to the health of future generations.”
Viewers will learn the Sharks’ answer when the stasher segment airs Sunday, January 7, 10:00 p.m., ET/ PT on ABC.
